Actually, not all of the exhibits are great. All the bear grottoes are horrible, as well as the big cat cages, some of the bird exhibits (in Wings of Australasia), and the small monkey cages.

i love the san diego zoo. when i lived in the area and had nothing to do all day, i would go there and just walk around. then come home and hop on zt2 to rebuild some fav exibits.

Yeah most there old stuff is very bad but their new exhibits like monkey trails are beautiful. It has pygmey hippos!!

My favorite zoo is the Phoenix Zoo. They have a great collection, a spectacular native species exhibit, spacious exhibits, and the US's only walk-through squirrel monkey habitat.

I think my favorite zoo that I have visited would be Paignton Zoo in the UK. But my all time favorite animal related park, which isn't really a zoo, would be Sea World. The animal exhibits and shows are just mind-blowing. Another favorite of mine, which isn't really a zoo, would be Busch Gardens.
So to put it simple, my favorite (classical) zoo would be Paignton Zoo and my favorite animal park would be Sea World followed by Busch Gardens.

The Columbus Zoo is my favorite of the zoos I've been too, and now that I live in Columbus, I try to go pretty often (made 3 trips this summer). The Good Zoo in Wheeling, WV, still holds a special place for me, even though its a small zoo and doesn't have anything too impressive. (I heard they got some giraffes after I left town, but had to get rid of them pretty quickly after one got sick and died).
It is huge and has realistic enclosures for all it's animals includeing my favorite bird, Keas
. I always feel bad for the snow leopards at the san diego zoo.
