Well, after months of planning, designing, construction and landscaping, renovation on the old elephant house is complete and the pygmy hippos will soon move into their new home.

Much work has been done on both the indoor and outdoor exhibits. And the hippos are going to have some company. The new exhibits will be home to the pygmy hippos as well as African spot necked otters, Jentink's Duiker and Wolf's quenons.

Over the next several days I will be posting pictures and giving you a tour of the entire exhibit.

For now, here is an overview picture of the completed exhibits.

It's unique how you put the otters in with the pygmy hippos. It reminds me of this exhibit at the San Diego zoo in which the gibbons are allowed to roam the pygmy hippo exhibit.

I have heard of that exhibit in San Diego Evy. They also have an exhibit where they mix monkeys and otters. I have Wolf's Geunons in this exhibit, but they are part of the indoor exhibit.

Here is the first view of the indoor exhibit.

@ mikek21, I like how you make the roof hegher above the exhibits. It looks very original :) .
Only one question: what kind of monkeys are showing in your past message?

hi kirillus, they are called Wolf's Guenon (Cercopithecus wolfi). I am pretty sure I downloaded them from Zoo Tycoon ABC.

Really cool exhibit!
Mike, I want to ask you a question about your exhibits. Why do yoo make gates between part with food and other parts of the exhibits? The gates betweeb outdoor and indoor parts part looks logical but the first onle looks to me strange. %) It seems to me that it is more comfortable for zoo keepers (for real ones) to let the food always open for animals. :)
